It just seems to selfish, as if he thinks that Sam's not worth fighting for.
Maybe it's unfair of Sam to be thinking this way, but right now, his own feelings are a mess as well and he just wants to lash out. However, even with all of this (figuratively) on his plate right now, he knows that if he lets TJ walk away now, there will be no going back. He'll leave and never come back, never answer his calls. Sam's aware of how this kind of thing usually goes when one or both people in question are this fucked up emotionally speaking.
